A pair of home runs and outstanding pitching propelled the American Conference to 2-1 win 
over the National Conference in the 2023 IBL All-Star Game at Motor City's T-Mobile Park. 
New Jersey owner Mike Monostra managed the American Conference team and Salt Lake owner 
Rob Barnes managed the National Conference.

The NC struck first when Southern New Hampshire's Mike Trout led off the 2nd inning with 
a triple. Two batters later, AC starting pitcher Logan Webb of Motor City uncorked a wild 
pitch, allowing Trout to score for a 1-0 NC lead. The lead didn't last long as in the 
bottom of the 2nd, Williamstown's J.T. Realmuto homered off of NC starting pitcher Sandy 
Alcantara of Gettysburg to tie the game up at 1.

The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the bottom of the 6th inning, when New Jersey 
designated hitter/two-way legend Shohei Ohtani hit a home run off of Salt Lake's Jacob 
DeGrom that just barely cleared the wall in right field. The homer gave the AC a 2-1 lead.

The NC had a couple of chances to tie things up. With a runner on 3B and 2 outs in the 
seventh, however, Williamstown's Edwin Diaz struck out Santa Fe rookie phenom Michael 
Harris to strand the tying run 90 feet away. In the 9th inning, the NC nearly put together 
a two-out rally with a single from Gettysburg's D.J. LeMahieu off of Monrovia's Brooks 
Raley, followed by a single from Canberra's George Springer off of Motor City closer 
Emmanuel Clase to put the tying run in scoring position. However, Clase was able to strike 
out Seaside's Manny Machado to shut the door and earn the save in a 2-1 AC win. Another 
Motor City reliever, Jhoan Duran, earned the win and DeGrom took the loss.
